Best of 2007…How to Choose…

So I got an email today from Zorra who hosted DMBLGIT in November asking me to submit my best recipe of 2007.
best of 2007

How does one possibly choose one’s favorite dish from that week or month, let alone a whole year?! (Well…technically speaking, I’ve only been doing this blog since August…but it’s still hard.) I went through each of my posts and picked out four that I am particularly proud of and thought you could help.

I am torn as to which to submit, so if you would be so kind as to vote for your favorite in the comments section, I would be much obliged. There isn’t much time, so I’ll take your comments into consideration (please give me a hint as to why you chose it, since that’s more interesting, than “I like THIS one) and I’ll decide and send in my submission early next week. Okay, so here are the contenders in no particular order (other than reverse chronological):

Acorn Squash and Sage Mac ‘n’ Cheese

Acorn Squash sage mac n cheese

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Carrot Flecks and Dill

Roasted Garlic Dill Carrot Mashed Potatoes

Brownies…Best Ever (with the fabulous addition of coconut oil)

Tropical Brownies

Guava Lime Cheesecake Ice Cream

  1. The Ice cream gets my vote too.

I say that because I think it tipifies 2007 in terms of food. It was a year of people rediscovering classics, doing away with pretention, but still adding a little twist.

  2. hi bri,

i actually love all the ones you have asked us to choose from. that said, sorry ice creamers, but i’m with the JEP on this one…i am so BIASED because i made those mashed potatoes for thanksgiving and am currently plotting to figure out when i can make them again, i love them so!

hmmm, ya think i can put them on toast points and call it an appetizer? i have a party on saturday… 🙂

  3. Thanks so much, everyone. Hmmm…I don’t think you actually made it any easier for me to choose now 😉 Funny, when I picked those four things out, I thought for sure it was between the mashed potatoes and the mac ‘n’ cheese. The ice cream was an afterthought, except now it looks like it should be a front runner. Well, I will sit with it more this week and then make a decision. Thanks for throwing in your two cents!
