At the Sebastopol farmers market, several vendors were selling Hosui, or Asian Pears. I usually find them to be disappointingly dry and gritty. But an organic vendor named Bella Ridge Gardens was giving out samples. Who am I to resist free, organic, picked-fresh-yesterday produce? So fragrant, so sweet with flavors of pear and the tropics, crisp and juicy…we just had to buy a few. Here is a photo of one that just had such beautiful color.

Autumn here we come! What a glorious photo and a divinely perfect pear.
Thanks Amanda! I know, autumn is coming so fast. The shorter days…the first delicata winter squash at the market…kids back in school.
